The 7,980-foot summit of Mount Olympus is less than 33 miles west of the grand Pacific Ocean. Between the highest peak in the Olympic Mountain range and sea is a jumble of rugged peaks which are adorned with meadows and lakes. Below treeline, subalpine forests give way steep forested slopes.
